Each year in November Central initiates a covenant program. It’s that time of year when we focus on the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. We prayerfully consider how He would have us respond to those blessings by renewing our covenant to Him as expressed in our membership vows when joining the church. When joining, new members profess to faithfully participate in the ministries of Central United Methodist Church with “our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness.”
This year we have embarked on a new covenant program called ALL IN. Why ALL IN? Because our faith is not something that should be limited to a Sunday morning worship service. It is an ongoing relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is inviting Him into our everyday lives as our counselor, friend, and filter by which we should live our lives. One of the scriptural foundations for this program is Romans 12:1-2 which reads, “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Our culture is becoming a tough, sometimes confusing place in which to exist. By keeping Christ central in our lives we can better help others and weather the storms that lie ahead. It is time to be ALL IN for Christ. Our lives and God’s kingdom will both be enriched as a result.
Jesus’ ministry was filled with life changing experiences for anyone who encountered Him. He met the people where they were, engaging them and inspiring them to dedicate their lives to following His teachings. As followers of Christ we are called to do the same, to meet people where they are. More and more our lives are being lived out on social media, to the tune of 1.55 billion users on Facebook alone. Our goal with the ALL IN program is to flood social media with how members of Central are All In for Christ, inspiring others to seek relationship with Him, encouraging each other to walk in faith every day. Each month we will present a video highlighting a member in the church who is faithfully living out one of the vows. Our pastors will invite everyone to engage in a challenge activity and then post their responses of this activity to social media, tagging it with #allincentral. We hope you will join with us in sending out the powerful message that Christ is King and alive in our everyday lives.
