2017 at Genesis Church was a year of miracles, a season of growth, and a period of new beginnings.
Miracles are those things that can only happen with God’s Spirit, His power, and His presence. Here are just a few of the miracles we have experienced at Genesis Church in 2017:
The mother of 3 who got out of jail, having found Christ while incarcerated. She came out a new person, found a great job, and we helped her get into a beautiful home – and now she has her children back.
The dad who recommitted his life to Christ and is reaping blessings from a God who has welcomed him back with open arms. He has a peaceful home, a marriage that is stronger than ever, and an unshakeable trust that God has a plan for his life.
The men who joined me for a 9-month Celebrate Recovery step study – only by multiple miracles are we living in freedom as God works in our hearts and minds to help us overcome the world, win our spiritual battles, and become the Godly men we were created to be.
For all those that want tangible results and love numbers:
Over 2,000 people served by our food and clothing pantries.
Nearly 12,000 meals served.
Well over a 1,000 people were prayed with and ministered to at our church office.
90 kids given gifts through Judy’s Workshop.
120 gift bags for the needy were hand delivered at the Christmas Eve lunch with prayers and blessings by a young man in ninth grade that God sent our way out of nowhere. So many people like him are following Christ in caring for the least of these, our brothers and sisters in need.
40 families and 115 people assisted with getting into affordable and safe housing.
50 more families and 200 people helped with utilities, rent, clothes, and shoes to start new jobs – and everything from auto parts to get to work, medical treatment to be healed, and bus tickets to go start over with their families.
We were blessed with all the people who joined Genesis as members and the nearly 400 who are attending worship each week through Sunday morning services and Morning Manna. We are overjoyed by all those who have gone to recovery programs – and those that have found hope, a welcoming church family, and new beginnings at Genesis.
The amazing thing is that all this happened through the work of followers of Christ who are making a difference for time and eternity by their selfless service to others and generous donations to our outreaches.
Through Morning Manna which began in September, we are seeing transformed lives as we minister to our neighbors in need during our breakfast time. The music leads us into God’s presence, and the message of God’s desire to be in fellowship with us has led people into His family. Our study on healing has brought peace to our friends as they realize how God wants to heal us as we trust His power, and ask for Him to work in our lives.
Our look at how Christmas revealed a promise from God to be with us, a hope that life has meaning, and a choice Jesus made to live a life of love and to give Himself for us.
We praise God for all He’s done and are excited about what His plan for the future is. As shepherds of His flock and as followers ourselves – we are asking for prayers, wisdom, and strength to truly follow Him every day in all our ways.
Lord Jesus, we praise you for making us new, growing our ministries, and bringing your children to us for prayers, help, encouragement, and healing – and for always being with us. Help us to truly follow you and to live and love all people as you told us to. We need strength and courage to love you and love all people. May we be instruments of grace, ministers of peace, and shepherds of your people. In the name of our Great Shepherd and the Only Way, Jesus Christ, amen.
