We are mere months away from moving into our new Wesley House in the heart of the U of A campus, and the excitement is building every day! The new 8,000 sq. ft. facility, will include a large gathering space for worship and meals, smaller spaces for students to hang out and meet for smaller groups, a prayer chapel, staff offices, a kitchen, and a dormitory.
Wesley House will be a hub for Christian community and outreach to the more than 25,000 students at the University of Arkansas. “What I am most excited about,” said Emily Burch, Wesley’s College Pastor, “is having daily touch with students, as they drop in between their classes to hang out or to study. That daily touch is what we are missing right now, and it will make all of the difference.”
The goal is to provide a home away from home for students – a place of hospitality where students of all backgrounds can feel at home and taste the tangible love of Christ through the experience of a vibrant Christian community.
But what is a home without furniture? To furnish and equip the new Wesley House, the ministry has launched Making Our House a Home, an alternative Christmas and end-of-year gift program to furnish the new house. It is a great opportunity to give a gift to a loved one while also making a gift that will make a real difference in the lives of U of A students.
Needs include everything from couches and chairs, dormitory furnishings, and office furnishings to appliances and cookware for the kitchen and A/V equipment for the sound booth in the main gathering room. Items range in cost from $30 to $3000.
Making Our House a Home is structured to provide the ease and convenience of giving from home. By visiting uawesley.com, donors can access the Making Our House a Home page from the first slide on the homepage rotator, or under the Building tab. From there, visitors can navigate from room to room until they find the item they would like to purchase. Making a gift is as simple as clicking on the “Gift This” button beside each item!
Donors can make their gift in honor or memory of a loved one for Christmas. An acknowledgement card will be sent to whomever is specified.
For those who would like to be recognized, all gifts will be also be acknowledged at the Wesley House Consecration Service. Those donating through Making Our House a Home, as well as other campaigns for our building fund, will be included on a Donor Wall in the facility.
Join us in helping Wesley College Ministry make their house a home this Christmas season!!
