Central is blessed to partner with many great ministries, locally and around the world. One of our partnerships is with Loving Choices, a crisis pregnancy ministry located right here in Northwest Arkansas. We recently received the following story, which is an example of life-change that occurs daily through this wonderful ministry – Loving Choices.
One Client’s Story
In 2012, a frightened seventeen-year-old came to our center for a pregnancy test. The test was positive. It was several weeks before we heard from her again only to learn that she had miscarried.
Fast-forward to 2015. The same client–this time twenty years of age–returned to Loving Choices for a pregnancy test. During her initial visit, her counselor asked her about her faith. She claimed to be agnostic and shared her reason. ‘The meanest woman I know is my grandmother and she is a Christian.’ This is not uncommon to hear for those of us who work at Loving Choices. The daily schedule is filled with women who are hurting, scared and feel hopeless. Thankfully, this client returned to Loving Choices because she was treated with kindness and respect when she visited as a teenager.
Indeed, she was pregnant and in a relationship with the Father of the Baby (FOB). She enrolled in the Care program and began seeing one of our peer counselors on a weekly basis. She developed serious health issues and was put on bed rest several times throughout the pregnancy. She and the FOB both work in the food industry where the turnover is high. However, they did everything in their power to keep their jobs and their appointments at the Care Center.
The relationship they formed with their peer counselor carried them through a rough pregnancy, job cuts and, finally, the delivery of a baby boy. The baby was unusually small and had serious health problems. The staff, volunteers and supporters prayed over this couple and their baby. His birth weight has doubled and he is thriving. The couple is equipped to care for the baby because of the educational videos and materials provided through the Care program. They have redeemed Mommy Bucks for diapers, clothing and baby items.
The couple is planning to marry sometime in 2016. It is our hope that this family of three has experienced the true love of Christians during their time in our Care program. We have shared tears, concerns and prayers together. We were able to minister to them because of our supporters and our prayer team. Thank you for being a part of Loving Choices.
Please pray for Loving Choices, the staff and volunteers who work daily on the front lines bringing hope and healing to families, and saving the lives of babies.
