What do you put on every morning when you prepare to face the day? Christian believers have at our fingertips exactly what we need to take on the challenges of the world and succeed in faithful living. We just need to remember to suit up!
The Razorbacks are getting ready for a successful football season. Suiting up before every game is an important step to a win! They wouldn’t run onto the gridiron without first putting their shoulder pads across their shoulders, their football helmets on their heads, and cleats on their feet. They take time to put on good equipment before the game. Woo Pig Sooie – so should we!
God invites believers to take the time to put on certain things every day when we approach life. Paul gives instruction to the church in Ephesus in the book of Ephesians chapter 6 that is still relevant advice for us today. We should be aware of both the defensive and offensive elements of our faith. These powerful tools are gifts at our disposal.
You never know what challenges a day will bring. In the Christian walk essential defensive elements provide protection. Suit up by putting on truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation. Additionally, God provides us with offensive tools. We are not helpless. We have exactly what we need to challenge whatever the world confronts us with. We go on the offense wielding the word of God found in scripture, praying powerful prayers in the Holy Spirit and putting on whatever makes us ready to go and do God’s will.
Time to suit up! Come learn more each week starting August 14 at Central UMC!
