The years spent in college are among the most formative years in one’s life. I am so glad that Wesley College Ministry was a landing place for me in that season. The faith family I found there influenced me tremendously. I really began to grow up in my faith, to adopt patterns that would shape my discipleship for years, and to claim my own gifts for ministry.
I know it has been the same for so many alumni who have been touched by our Wesley ministry here at the University of Arkansas over the years. When I became College Pastor of U of A Wesley, I was sad to find that we had a very limited alumni database. This was not from lack of involvement over the decades, but instead because the records simply didn’t exist. As I entered into my second year of service at Wesley, this became an important goal for me: to find and re-engage our alumni and to invite them to be a part of the ministry as we grow forward.
That’s why on Saturday, Oct. 31, we’re hosting an Alumni & Friends Tailgate. We want to spend the day not only calling the Hogs but also reclaiming our connection with those who have been a part of the story of God’s faithfulness on this campus through our Wesley ministry – whether as alumni, parents of students, or friends of the ministry.
So whatever your connection, grab a friend and come visit us in Victory Village, the tents along Maple Street north of Razorback Stadium. Food and fellowship commence at 12:00pm! Hope to see you there!
If you can’t make it but are an alumnus of our ministry, make the connection by email. Let Kristen Coppola Williams, our Special Projects Coordinator, know you’re out there and want to know what’s going on at U of A Wesley – email@example.com.
