Serving is invaluable to the church and, quite simply, wouldn’t function without those who choose to give of their time, talents and resources. Aside from the staff at Central, everyone else that you see around the church has chosen to commit their time to helping others find life in Christ. From van drivers to greeters, coffee makers to communion servers, and everyone in between, these servants make the church tick. In fact, if we had a Sunday where every servant was given the day off, church would look a lot different. There would be no one to open the door, no coffee or treats to enjoy and our children and adults would have no Sunday School to attend. Each service would be led by a worship leader with no accompanying musicians or choir and we wouldn’t get to enjoy the beautiful worship that our servants make possible.
Now that I’ve painted that picture, imagine where you might fit in. There are so many areas in which to serve that there’s sure to be something for everyone. Do you love working with kids? Then children’s Sunday School or nursery care would be a great place. Do you have a heart for junior and senior high school students? Then plug into Central’s Student Ministries. Are you cheerful and welcoming? Then being a greeter or usher would be a great fit. Musical? Worship team. Behind the scenes? Communion preparation. I could go on and on……..
Please take a moment to watch the video and hear from different volunteers in our church on why they choose to serve. And when you’re done, take a minute to check out all of the awesome ways you can help bring people closer to Christ through the act of service.
